Abstract The Bible says that Christ is "the most beautiful of men" (Psalm 45:44) and for centuries the Christian community sought to achieve this beauty also in their meeting places, befitting the psalm: "I love the beauty of thy house" (26:8). Thus, this paper deals with the architecture of Catholic churches, built in the municipality of Jahu (SP) between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, a period of dominance of eclecticism in architectural field. Intends to analyze the architecture and the history of some of the major temples erected by the Catholic Church in the city, and understand the symbolism of its relationship with the landscape and the people at the time of its construction, the articulation established between internal and external spaces; uses the internal spaces through the study of the liturgy of the Catholic Church in the early twentieth century, and the current situation of remaining in the city. The search will be made by photographic reading (using photos from the first half of the twentieth century), interviews, surveys current photographic and metric analysis of the project by checking the changes experienced over time and possible plans of buildings.
