Abstract The present project aims, through communication between photography structure and textual structure, to study the way residents of Copan Building, located in central zone in São Paulo city, divide and identify themselves spatially and symbolically inside the construction. The image - portraits of the residents, composed by their own help - will be used as a visual narrative that aims to inform the ethnographic report with the same authority as written text based on the ethnographics, due to photograph assistance on verbal elucidation along with body expression, documentation of ways of life, and deepening of symbolic universe comprehension that makes social actors about themselves and about "others".
