Abstract

The research aims to investigate performative textualities. Based on the concept of performativity, as defined by Erika Fischer-Lichte, the work will analyze the practices of writing that (con) fuse the notions of: art / life; artist / spectator; materiality/ semiocity. After clarifying those theoretic notions, the research will approach modern writing experiments that had some kinds of performative processes. Posteriorly we will analyze works of several contemporary artists, dividing their texts in the following categories: textuality of experience; textuality as experience; textuality to experience. Then, after analyzing in detail the texts and the procedures therein employed, the research will draw a parallel between the textual experiences studied and the contemporary theater, developing the hypothesis that the analyzed procedures can be employed in order to create textual content for a performative play. For this last part of the research, the work will focus on theatrical creation processes in which the author herself will be the playwright, in order to investigate the possibilities of using the studied procedures to conduct a playwright process.
