Abstract

The enriched environment by stimulating situations coupled with an effective orientation of parents or carers, will benefit not only the child but also his family, which is responsible for their care. However, deficits in child development may occur if the environment is not favorable. The university extension project "Training of Community Health Workers to promote health surveillance of child development and improving the quality of primary health care" is developed since 2010 by Della Barba, PCS, Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of São Carlos aims to assess the actions and monitoring of child development in primary care through the training of graduate students in the course of Occupational Therapy. and Community Health Agents (CHA) using the booklet "Every time it's time to care" (Chiesa, 2009). The current research project aims to expand the impact assessment of the booklet, analyzing the consequences of the training provided by CHA families belonging to the Family Health Units of São Carlos, supported by the need to identify the forms of care and prior knowledge about the development, beyond the acceptance for new forms of care. The aim is to assess the impact of training performed by CHWs on the Monitoring of Development together and identify the possible strengthening of the link between HCA and families, as well as among caregivers and their children. With the completion of the final stage of the extension project, the empowerment of families by the CHA, will begin evaluating the same. (AU)
