Abstract

This project presents a proposition to an Abroad Research Internship Scolarship (Bolsa de estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior - BEPE) under orientation of professor Marie Morelle, from Paris University I. The objective is to undertake a more careful and systematic reflection about the relationship between the public security policies and the forms of urban management and city production, especially those destined to poor areas and populations. Such reflection will subsidize the analysis of matters that emerged from the field research on the "pacified" Rio's slump Cidade de Deus, related to the "pacification" policy's place, occured on the city of Rio de Janeiro, in the production and resignation of the urban management policies and in the city production. Considering the matters on which I intend to dwell, the choice to develop this project under the orientation of the foreign supervisor Marie Morelle is justified by her dedication to researches about the interfaces between security, marginality, forms of State production and the city production, especially in African contexts, which would allow double comparative capacity with the empirical contexts studied by her group, besides the access to the French bibliography and English language with which she works.
