Abstract The modern cities face problems of different ambit, from those associated with social issues such as segregation and insecurity to those of environmental nature related to the deterioration of urban areas. Many of these problems are associated to public spaces, which often are seen as local of neglect, vandalism and threat. Marginalized, some present as agonizing spaces between the flux of the contemporary city. Likewise, public spaces are desired with the task of making more pluralistic urban life. About the precepts of citizenship, these places are permeated by meeting the diversity and co-presence of groups and individuals. In Campinas, in the state of São Paulo, there are public spaces in the process of decay and at the same time, public spaces that have become recently reoccupied by population. This research project seeks to understand phenomenologically both processes and creating theoretical and methodological approaches to think public policy. (AU) | |
