Abstract

This work will be molecularly detect the occurrence of Ehrlichia sp. in the guts, ovary and salivary gland of ticks Rhipicephalus sanguineus, ectoparasites of dogs in two endemic regions for this infection. The organs of ticks, as well as lymph node and bone marrow samples will be tested in dogs using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Real-time quantitative for Ehrlichia canis , based on a dsb gene fragment. Dogs blood samples will be analyzed by immunofluorescence Reaction (IFA). Statistical analysis will consist of the chi-square test to assess the association between the presence and absence of this parasite in dogs and their ticks. Also the McNemar test is used to compare between the positive PCR Real-time and IFA, along with the Kappa coefficient to evaluate the concordance between them. Statistical analyzes will be performed with the computer program SAS® (Statistical Analysis System, 2014) and will be considered significant when P <0.05. (AU)
