Abstract

Biofuels production got a big boost in recent years. In this context, ethanol appears as a major biofuels produced from sugarcane. The exploration of other sources for ethanol production, besides sugar cane, is necessary, because of Brazil size, where the diversification of bioenergetics matrix would be a new opportunity for employment and income generation. Hence, the Jatropha curcas L. has been grown and researched as a promising source for biodiesel generation. Since biodiesel is produced through the oil content of Jatropha, this study aims to investigate the use of the resulting draff of Jatropha curcas L. seeds pressing process, in order to producing a culture medium with high concentration of glucose, which will be evaluated for the production of ethanol.
