Abstract

Nowadays, the Cerrado (also known as Bazilian Savannah) faces a lot of difficulties on preserving it's fauna and flora due to deforestation and burning that contribute with the decrease of this important biome's biodiversity and with the overwhelming increase of impacts that many times become irreversible. It is in this context that human intervention shows that natural environments, which were in a set of dynamic balance, are being considerably modified. Therefore, the development of strategies of conservation for Cerrado's native arboreal species, which is the case of Curatella Americana L. (Lixeira), seems to be very relevant. In an area that has been degraded for the construction of hydroelectric in the region of Selvíria-MS, there is the occurrence of a natural population of C. americana, which is gradually recovering the vegetation of the site. Thus, the purpose with this study is to characterize the C. americana of individuals in relation to silvicultural variables: height, dbh, average diameter and shape of the trunk, using descriptive statistics. Due to the difficulty of germination of their seeds will be used regenerating occurring in the crown projection area in seedling production bare root. Thus, seeds of 45 trees from a natural population of Mato Grosso do Sul - MS state will be analyzed and will be performed an assessment of its quality with the physical tests moisture content (GUM) and weight of 100 seeds (M00) and the physiological test that are germination, germination speed and electrical conductivity (CEL). The study of these variables will allow the mother trees are selected using mixed linear models via REML / BLUP. Thus, it is intended to provide support for the promotion and genetic conservation of this important tree species in the recovery of degraded areas in the Cerrado.
