Abstract This research focuses some classic issues of liberal political thought: religious tolerance and State indifference or neutrality towards religion. Under Rawlsian perspective and exploring the contemporary debate between liberals and communitarians, we intend to discuss the political morality and the rationale of different models of relationship between State and religion -particularly of different models of secularism. Therefore, the observation of the institutional trajectories of France and the United States, either on its own or in a comparative basis, serves as a starting point. (AU) | |
