Abstract

The use of infrared thermography as a non-destructive technique for the diagnosis of pathological manifestations have numerous potential. Allied to this, the vast majority of pathological manifestations of materials and components is associated with the request of the temperature, so its measurement may be an important aid to the understanding of the phenomena that are the cause of anomalies. The thermography is a technique based on the principle of the capacity of all materials emit energy in the form of heat radiation in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The detectors detect infrared radiation and convert it into an electric signal showing the result thermogram as the distribution of surface temperature of the body, each color corresponding to a particular range of temperatures. Thus, this study will examine one thermal imaging equipment used sensitivity analysis, which will evaluate some relevant parameters in obtaining thermograms, and will be carried out tests in the laboratory and in situ coating cracks. Thus, aims to evaluate the potential of infrared thermography, and managed with the different tests to determine the surface temperature of materials and components.
