Abstract

The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that can be characterized by inattention, impulsivity and hyperactivity pathological. The ADHD pathophysiology is related to changes in dopaminergic systems, noradrenergic and serotonergic central nervous system. Among the treatments used there is the pharmacotherapy methylphenidate (Ritalin), potential drug abuse reuptake of dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin; on the other hand, sibutramine (Reductil) having similar actions on central neurotransmitter systems, but their use has not yet been tested in the control of ADHD. The objective is to evaluate the effects of sibutramine and methylphenidate in an animal model of ADHD, which consists of ethanol administration (5 g/kg) to mice on the 10th day of postnatal life (DPN10). Treatment with sibutramine, methylphenidate or water (control group) will be held for 28 days and assessed the play behavior, the overall activity in the open field, performance in the elevated plus maze in the Barnes maze, in the light-dark box and passive avoidance, and object recognition. Will also be undertaken hematological evaluation, blood chemistry and neurotransmitters and their metabolites in the central nervous system. (AU)
