Abstract This project aims to reconstruct the paleoclimate the last 32 thousands years through high-resolution stable isotope records on speleothems collected from caves from Mid-west of Brazil, center of South America. Based on these new paleoclimate records, we aim to investigate the regional and temporal variability of climate events as Young Dryas, Bølling-Allerød, Dansgaard-Oescher, Heinrichs and the last deglaciation, with emphasis on response of South America Monsoon System (SAMS) to different climate forcing as: insolation, solar irradiance variability, greenhouse gases and ocean circulation. To better understand the mechanism involved in changes in precipitation interpreted based on ´18O records in South America, the paleoclimate reconstruction proxies will be associated with results of simulations using climate models.
