Abstract

The project consists in processing, analyzing and interpreting geophysical data acquired in the São Sebastião region during the cruise of CUNHA project (FAPESP: 2014/08295-2), last February. Different acoustical sources were used to acquire multibeam and sidescan sonar data, as well as seismic data acquired with boomer (300 - 1000 Hz, 75 to 300 J) and chirps (2-8 kHz and 10-20 kHz - 2 kW). Moreover data from ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) were obtained. The processing tasks will be developed using CARIS Hips and Sips, SonarWiz da Chesapeake Technology and ArcGIS (ESRI), all of them available at IO-USP.Considering the hydrodynamic setting of the area and analyzing the geophysical data, the objective is to determine morphology, seabed typology, and the conditions required to form an infralittoral prograding wedge at São Sebastião Island. This deposit was identified during the cruise Geosedex in February 2013. In this case, monobeam (12-38 kHz) and sub-bottom profile 3,5 KHz, were acquired. The initial hypothesis consist in connecting the wedge formation with the convergence of the currents from N and S, being the São Sebastião region the area of confluence.
