Abstract

In this proposal, we describe a set of didactic and practical activities to provide the student a solid introduction to statistical signal processing. In the didactic part, the student, under supervision of his advisor, will take contact with selected topics of the literature in estimation and random signal processing, with emphasis in Bayesian stochastic filtering and its applications to communication engineering. In the practical part, we propose that the student develop programs in high level languages (MATLAB or equivalent) and in the C language in order to consolidate his understanding of the previously studied topics and, next, to partially collaborate in the research, development, and performance analysis of blind equalization algorithms for frequency selective channels.
