Abstract

Due to high demand of nitrogen for maize crop, plant breeding projects with the aid of modern technologies, such as genome wide selection (GWS), aiming to obtain cultivars more efficient in nitrogen use, are fundamental for sustainable agriculture in Brazil. Thus, the aim of this work is to evaluate the accuracy and predictive ability of non-additive models of GWS for nitrogen use efficiency (EUN) in hybrids of tropical maize. The population of estimation will be composed of 1176 hybrids obtained by complete diallel consisting of 49 lines with genetic variability for EUN. The genotyping of these lines will be performed using approximately 660.000 SNPs markers. The phenotypic data will be obtained from two experiments performed in the field at two sites, considering high and low availability of N in the soil. These essays will be evaluated all hybrids obtained and five witnesses by the augmented blocks design. In possession of phenotypic and genotypic data, will be performed the evaluation of the models additive, additive-dominant and additive-dominant-epistatic of GWS. The comparison of the models used will be accomplished through the accuracy and predictive ability. (AU)
