Abstract

This research project is in the theoretical and methodological field of french discourse analysis and it has two main objectives. The first is to investigate, through the expressions politically correct and politicamente correto, the existence of a translinguistic aspect of discursive formulas, that is, the ability to circulate in different languages. The second main objective is to test the hypothesis that discursive memory and conditions of production contribute to make a formula pre-programmed to become a formula in another language and in similar conditions of production to its genesis and/or circulation. The corpus will be gathered using the methodological procedure called route, which will take into account the occurrence of the above expressions in different discursive genres of various discursive fields. Thus, to achieve the proposed objective, it is primarily necessary to prove that such expressions have the four concurrent properties of the formula postulated by Krieg-Planque (2010). After this step, an analysis will be made of the meanings attributed to the formulas in question (to see if they are connected by a discursive memory) and the conditions of production in which they circulate. Finally, once one can confirm that a formulation is pre-programmed to become a formula in another language in similar conditions of production to its genesis/circulation, it will be possible to classify the formulas that circulate in one language and those that emerge in more than one.
