Abstract

Diabetes is a disease that affects the world population. An important factor in diabetics is the cardiovascular risk since a large part of this population ends and dies of a cardiovascular event. Among the most common changes in the cardiovascular system in diabetics is the change in the peripheral nervous system, especially the sympathetic nervous system. Because of this, it is essential to study the control of this system in diabetics. Recently the literature has brought a major role in inflammatory factors, such as histamine, has in this system because it can be released by sympathetic neurons with norepinephrine, moreover, it is also increased in some pathological conditions, such as in diabetes. Therefore, we intend to induce diabetes in male Wistar rats by streptozotocin (60 mg/kg) and to verify the function of histaminergic receptors in isolated atria from normoglycemic and diabetic rats.
