Abstract

This study aims to analyze the pathological manifestations that interfere in foreign coatings of three residential buildings with multiple floors, situated in the municipality of Presidente Prudente. The lack of information to users about the need for preventive and restorative maintenance of buildings contributes to the deterioration of the facades of many buildings in Presidente Prudente. Given the above, we seek to demonstrate that the anomalies found in these three cases are not only linked to quality of plaster, but above all the design flaws and implementation as well as the lack of maintenance on structural systems and building components, such as rails, roof slabs, drip pans and external walls. From a strictly technical point of view, the pathological manifestations in external coatings can be attributed to the stock neglect, disregard of aggressive agents or even the little knowledge of degenerative processes, noting that many of the problems can be from omissions, failures breakdown or insufficient study of projects for interference. However, this study aims to contribute data that locate the genesis of pathological manifestations in question, as a warning to architects, engineers, designers and builders.
