Abstract A high number of problems that occur in electric power systems is caused by electromagnetic transients. In this context, computer simulation techniques have been used for the analysis of such phenomena. Thus, it is necessary to study effective methods for behavior analysis of energy transmission and distribution networks when subject to internal and external interferences. Given this reality, this project consists of a proposal for a study of a modeling approach known as TLM (Transmission Line Modeling). This method has been successfully used for the analysis of electromagnetic wave propagation in various components of electric power systems. The TLM has been used to study electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic compatibility characteristics which make it suitable for analysis of problems related to electromagnetic transients, for example, by lightning or by surges of high frequency, caused by operating maneuvers. In short, this project aims to learn and use the TLM technique in the analysis of electric power systems by developing algorithms and simulations in MATLAB and PSCAD. | |
