Abstract

The holoprosencephaly (HPE) is a condition characterized by a defect in the midline of the embryonic forebrain growth failure due to segmentation or the final part of the anterior neural tube. Individuals who have this condition may experience losses in different areas of development, with great impact on their motor cognitive, language, perception, memory, among others. Changes in visual processing system can consistently affect the development of perception, cognitive function important for learning and autonomy in activities of daily living. The objective of this study is to characterize the performance related to visual perception of children with holoprosencephaly-like. Participants 10 children aged 7-12 years old, both sexes, in the basic education phase, forming two groups: G1, made up of 05 children diagnosed with HPE-like, with clinical signs within the HPE spectrum or the microforms thereof; and G2, as a control group, consisting of 05 children without changes in development, matched for gender and age to G1. To collect the data will be used the Auto Naming Test Quick-RAN and the Coloured Progressive Matrices. The data will be described, classified and interpreted in accordance with the rules of each instrument, and organized in tables and graphs. Will be submitted to statistical analysis through the test "T" to compare the means of the performances achieved in the different search tools. The significance level of 5% will be adopted, considering that when the calculated significance value (p) is less than 5%, there is a statistically significant difference. (AU)
