Abstract

This research will study the effectiveness insecticide in vitro seven essential oils extracted from plants grown in Brazil. The essential oils of citronella, eucalyptus, pine, lemon grass, star anise, rosemary and pepper Chinese will be diluted and evaluated by in vitro test and the results obtained in vitro test, the oil that have better efficacy, will be associated with fipronil along with flumethrin in an attempt to develop a new therapeutic approach for in vivo control of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus in naturally infected cattle. To this end, 50 male or female cattle are selected using the average of three consecutive scores (days -3, -2 and -1) of engorged female ticks of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus, between 4.5 and 8.0 mm length present on the left side of each animal. The elimination of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus, and the residual effect of drug formulations used will be assessed by means of scores from all females, from 4.5 to 8.0 mm long, presents the left side of each animal (VILLARES & WHARTON UTECH, 1970) on days -3, -2, -1, 3, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49 and 56 days post-treatment.
