Abstract

This project aims the study of the aesthetic writings of Theodor W. Adorno to comprehend the relation between art and society, grounding mainly on the concept of aesthetic autonomy. This goal will be achieved based mainly on the differences made by the philosopher amid the work of Samuel Beckett and Bertolt Bretch, under the view of his critics to art's utilitarianism, common to the cultural industry and to the socially engaged art, just as his studies about the relation between the formal structure of a work of art and its aesthetic content.
