Abstract

The aim of this study will be to analyze the biomechanical behavior of three-unit fixed prosthesis varying the splinting, length, diameter, implant position, and the number of implant (supported by two or three implants) by 3D finite element methods. For this study will be simulated twenty-six 3-D models with aid of CAD softwares Rhinoceros 4.0, Solidworks 2010 and InVesalius software that will be used to bone tissue reconstruction. Each model will represent a posterior maxillary bone section simulating type IV bone (cortical and spongy), with presence of two or three implants (Conexão Sistemas de Prótese Ltda., São Paulo, Brasil) external hexagonal implants, with 4,0mm x 10,0 mm, supporting 3-units fixed prosthesis, in different clinical situations (varyng the factors splinting, length, diameter, and implant position). The 3D models will be exported to the software FEMAP 10.2 for pre- and post- processing and mesh generation besides load definition (400N vertical and 200 N oblique (45°)) applied in the internal area of the crown cusp. After, the models will be solved by NeiNastran 11.0 finite element software and the results will be visualized by maximum principal stress and microstrain maps to cortical bone tissue and Von Mises stress map to fixation screws. Besides, the maps might be individualized as required and necessary for each proposed model. (AU)
