Abstract

The work of Maria Teresa Horta is acknowledged for problematizing social and gender relations in our society. Her first book, Minha Senhora de Mim, was written in 1971 and seized by Portuguese censors following its publication. It could not have been otherwise, if we look carefully at the main trait of the book: erotic poetry written by a woman during Salazar's dictatorship. The objective of this project is to analize Minha Senhora de Mim in relation to Minha Senhora de Quê?, by Ana Luísa Amaral, as well as to collect cantigas de amigo (itálico) by which we can be inspired to observe whether parodical reconstruction is present in the poems of Minha Senhora de Mim and Minha Senhora de Quê?. We will depart from the assumption that the book was written by a woman during Salazar's dictatorship, a regime that limited the feminine figures to private spaces, without participating in the public sphere along with men. Therefore, we will build on the historical context of Minha Senhora de Mim in dialogue with the other mentioned works, so that we may understand the reason which led a woman to write poetry - one which takes the body itself as its theme - but becomes more problematic within totalitarian regimes.
