Abstract

Even though there is no consensus about the manner people interpret colors, we can state that the visual aspect of the color depends on a series of factors that are both of cultural and complex physiological natures. In this sense, this present study has as its goal to analyses concepts related to chromatic perception, with emphasis on Inclusive Graphic Design. The methodology is structured in: 1) Bibliographic revision with focus on the relations between individuals and colors, subdivided in 6 topics: a) Color Theory; b) Cultural Analysis of Color; c) Relationship between Color and Information Design; d) Disturbances in perception; e) Universal Design Concepts and f): The visual presentation of colors through symbols. 2) Execution of visual tests based on researches made by Kazunori Asada. 3) Comprehension tests of graphic symbols for color representation made by Portuguese researcher Miguel Neiva, and 4) Visual tests data's analysis and organization. As expected results, it is intended to provide with this study theoretic subsides for the joint production with Inky Design of the external signalization guide of the campus of Universidade Estadual Paulista "Julio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP) in Bauru. This research will be developed in conjunction with the Research Laboratory and Extension Inky Design and Research Group on Inclusive Design Graphic: sight, hearing and language.
