Abstract

The mesolimbic dopaminergic system may suffer alterations due to internal or external stimuli. This system is activated by both, stressors or rewarding factors. In adolescence, the nervous system suffers several transformations, which occur in combination with high expression of receptors. The mesolimbic dopaminergic system presents great expression of D1 and D2 receptors. This project aims to evaluate the effects of increased dopaminergic mesolimbic transmission during adolescence in the sexual behavior of adult rats. Male rats will be exposed to activators factors of the mesolimbic pathway (cocaine, apomorphine, sleep restriction and receptive female) during the adolescence (30th to 51st day). In adulthood (75 day) all rats will be evaluated for behaviors that lead to the activation of mesolimbic dopaminergic system, such as sexual behavior. Our hypothesis is that the increase of dopaminergic transmission during adolescence would cause deep damage to dopaminergic mesolimbic system leading to a decrease in the performance of sexual behavior (AU)
