Selection of the type of treatment for sludge generated by direct downflowing filtration considering economical aspects

Abstract

This research has the purpose of analysing the Direct Downflowing Filtration Technology, considering project flow ranging from 10 to 100 l/s, in order to estimate the costs related to water and residue treatment. This estimative will allow the proper selection of the type of residue treatment plant to be adopted along with the direct downflowing technology. The research will be hold in four sequential stages: I) identification, selction and characterization of factors, variables and indicators to build the Conceptual Selection Model (CSM); II) the interrelation between factors, variables and indicators to create the CSM; III) design of a computer program to implant the CSM; IV) CSM and software Adjusts to be used in a case study. The methodology applied by Sabogal Paz will be used to evaluate the spent associated with Direct Downflowing Technology with Residue Treatment plants, including, as a feature, the estimative of investment costs using the TCPO14® software. The research intends to broaden the knowledge related to the costs of Direct Downflowing Technology with Residue Treatment Plants. The work of engineers will be facilitated by the elaboration of the CMS and the computer program. Several technical papers will be written, which will be published in journals, national and international congresses.
