Abstract

Individuals with spinal Cord injury show a higher risk for cardiovascular events in comparison with able-bodied individuals, independent of traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Previous study has been shown that intima-media carotida thickness is increased in individuals with spinal cord injury. Now this study aims distinguish which one (intima or media) is really increased. Commom carotid artery ultrasonography will be performed with the measurement of intima and media in three different points in these two groups (spinal cord injury individuals e able-bodied individuals).
