Abstract

Thinking about the formation of readers today constitutes a major challenge. The school complaints in relation to reading indicate that students spend the first and second cycles of basic education and reach their teens, often, without the domain necessary for this practice. We rely on the hypothesis that the formation of the subject reader is a story crossed by different mediators, in other words, the culture of writing appropriation and the consequent field of reading activity does not take place exclusively through the school. This research aims to identify what they are and as they occurred the mediations, until then take effect, with a view to the formation of the subject reader, between the end of the elementary school and early high school. This shall be sought to identify the understanding that the subject has on the reading activity and about the ways in which occur the mediations produced at school and in other contexts as well as clarify the actual mediators elements brought this relationship, analyzing social function perfomed by the same. The study is qualitative and consist of an interview teenager, using as an instrument for the interview, the Oral History method. It is considered that this methodological procedure by taking the biography of the interviewee as the centerpiece of analysis, fits the assumptions of historical-cultural approach to psychology.
