Abstract

In recent years, the Brazilian pig farming is one of the agribusiness production chains that grew the most in the country. It is an important activity of providing meat and meat products for the domestic market and especially for Brazilian exports. So there is pivotal to understand the reproductive biology of these animals. In order to contribute to this knowledge, the purpose of this paper is to describe the morphology of epididymal epithelium in boars as well as the expression and immunolocalization of aquaporin 9 (AQP9), seeking to collaborate with further investigations, especially those related to rational zootechnical exploration of these animals. For this, will be collected fragments of epididymal regions (caput, corpus and cauda) of five boars, Large White breed, will be destined to the routine for inclusion in ParaplastTM (Sigma, St. Louis, MO, USA). Following the inclusion will be made microtomy to obtain histological sections of 5 µm thick, which will be mounted on silanized slides and the material will be then destine for histological routine and immunohistochemical detection for AQP9.
