Abstract

The inappropriate and indiscriminate disposal of sugarcane vinasse in soil and water resources received much attention in recent decades because of environmental problems that this practice causes. Disposal in waters is prohibited for several years, but the indiscriminate use of soils can lead to contamination of water, either by leaching and / or percolation. Different studies demonstrated the toxicity of vinasse on aquatic organisms. The one of objective of the Thematic Project investigate the toxic potential of vinasse after percolation tests; in this sense, this project aims to investigate the toxicity of the leachate of vinasse sugarcane in gills of tilapia, using histopathological analysis.
