Abstract

The present Project aims at performing the comparative analysis of two configurations of Rankine cycles. The first uses steam extracted from the turbine to preheat the liquid at the entrance of the boiler. In the second the extractions of steam are substituted by solar preheaters. This latter solution can be used with the extractions of the turbine in order to the unity to operate 100% of the time with full capacity. Moreover, based on literature analysis, two Rankine Cycles will be proposed, in which the mass, energy, exergy and cost balances will be applied. From the Thermodynamics analysis, the parameters of efficiency of the cycles will be compared, such as destroyed exergy, exergy efficiency, CO2 reduction, increase in the power production and reduction on the production costs. Results will be compared with the ones in literature, in order to evaluate the feasibility of the implementation of the solution in the original configuration proposed in this project.
