Abstract The inappropriate and indiscriminate disposal of sugarcane vinasse in soil and water bodies received much attention in recent decades because of environmental problems that this practice causes. Disposal in waters is prohibited for several years, but the indiscriminate use of soils can lead to contamination of water bodies, either by sugarcane vinasse leaching and/or percolation. Since several developed studies demonstrated the toxicity of vinasse on aquatic organisms, it is part of the objectives of the Thematic Project investigate the toxic potential of vinasse after percolation tests; in this sense, this project aims to investigate the toxicity and genotoxicity of sugarcane vinasse leachate in peripheral blood of tilapia. | |
