Abstract

The embryonic origin of the urogenital system comes from the intermediate mesoderm, which forms an eminence on each side of the dorsal wall of the body of the embryo, producing longitudinal protrusions, forming the urogenital ridges. The lateral portion of these ridges form the nephrogenic blastema, which will rise to most of the urinary organs. The kidney, the main body of this system has three stages with fast chronological overlap: the pronefro, the mesonephros and the metanephros. Due to the lack of expertise on the development of the urinary system of domestic cats, specifically to the stages of kidney development, this project will give support, scientific grant and analyzes that will aid the treatment of diseases related to this system. Consequently will expand the knowledge necessary for description of specific structures present in pronefro, mesonephros and metanephros, during phases of embryonic development. To carry out the project, 15 mongrel pregnant females of domestic cats will be used at different gestational stages to observe by means of light microscopy techniques, immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy embryonic development of urinary organs focusing mainly on the structures present in kidney development.
