Abstract Departing from the changes that have taken place in the traditional family model, the objective in this research is to investigate how middle-class couples understand and exercise the parental function nowadays. Therefore, semistructured interviews will be held with eight couples with children up to three years of age, considering that this is the phase in which the children most need holding and healthy emotional development takes place. Also, the children's pediatricians and schools will be heard. This is justified as the literature indicates that the institutions significantly participate in care for the children in the contemporary world. The results will be analyzed and discussed based on the theoretical reference framework of psychoanalysis, adopting a qualitative research design. | |
