Abstract

This research internship abroad proposes a survey of primary source documents required to develop a post-doctoral research-in-progress (MAE-USP), which aims to discuss the concept of the frontier, based on land and sea routes used in the polis of Thasos during the Archaic and Classical periods, through the analysis of three epigraphic documents -- the Stele from the Harbour, the Stele of Aliki, and the Laws concerning wine and vinegar -- dating in the V century B.C. In order to provide a unique and effective contribution to the proposed theme, the survey of primary documentation envisions visits to archaeological sites in Thasos, data collection in museums, and collecting raw data in libraries (excavation reports), with the goal of acquiring greater knowledge and perception of the landscape and archaeological remains of the island, and observing how sea and land routes coordinated the various spaces that composed this polis, and linked the frontier dynamics of the ancient world.
