Abstract

Trade single window is a tool encompassing modernization in global operations, designed by World Customs Organization. This tool centralizes information and contributes to simplification and streamlining foreign trade practices, having in mind improvements in terms of competitiveness. Single window plays a role in terms of single point of submission and reception of information and documentation related to import and export operations, sharing the received information to other public agencies. Its implementation is a step by step approach, through a Single Window Program in Brazil (called "Portal Único de Comércio Exterior"). The process of implementation is expected to be concluded in 2017. The objective of this research is to identify practices that might allow positive results in foreign operations in other countries. Secondly, to verify its feasibility in terms of implementation in Brazil. This research design is unique in terms of research’s in this context in Brazil. The methodology is focusing in a qualitative research, as exploratory, taking information in the literature, besides data collection by interviews in Brazil and other countries. Indicators collected by World Bank in a tool called CATT Customs will be used as reference of applied indicators in trade single window. As expected results are the selection of practices to be possible implemented in Brazil and their constraints in terms of the implementation process in the Brazilian reality.
