Abstract

The main objective of this project is to make a terminological survey of the field of Industrial Heritage, Landscape and Environment as part of the thematic project "History of electrical power in the State of São Paulo (1890-1960): industrial heritage, landscape and the environment," which, in its line of research within the areas of Information Science and Archival Science, seeks to identify the documentary collections of the production units under study, with the objective of expanding the knowledge about the electrical power companies in the State of São Paulo. In addition to that, this line of research aims at developing a terminological control instrument that enables the expansion of the systematic understanding of the logic of the information contained in the documents studied. One of the characteristics of the instruments for vocabulary control is the possibility of terminological integration in different areas of knowledge. The association of research done in two axes - information and documents - enables the creation of a more comprehensive instrument, both from the point of view of informed content and of the terminological control of information, enabling the researcher to have ample access to the collection. The collecting of terms related to the industrial heritage of electrical power and the consequent increase in scope of the controlled vocabulary of electrical power will enable the sharing of information collected by other lines of research within the History, Landscape and Industrial Heritage project, and as well as make this information available for the public in the future.
