Abstract

The search for gene networks that may be associated with tolerance against abiotic stresses in economically important plants has been increasing. The aim is to maintain or increase the plant production, as there is strong indication of global environmental changes. The Eucalyptus cultivation fits in this context, mainly because of its economic importance as material for the production of pulp and paper, in addition to an increasing interest as a crop for energy production. Several studies have associated tolerance to various types of abiotic stress with metabolic pathways regulated by CBF transcription factors, including Eucalyptus. CBF expression are regulated by photoperiod in other plant species. Thus, the aim of this work is to study the expression of CBF transcription factors in two photoperiod regimes (long days, 16 hours of light and 8 hours of dark and short days, 8 hours of light and 16 hours of dark) in four species of Eucalyptus: E. dunni, E. globulus, E. pellita and E. tereticornis.
