Abstract

The use of hydroxyapatite for a drug delivery system can be explored, since this ceramic can load radioisotopes that help in cancer the treatment. The use of biological materials perturbed angular correlation spectroscopy measurements is extremely difficult, since the introduction of the probe isotope is very complicated. Most preparation and diffusion techniques to insert the probe are metallurgical, so during probe insertion, the material can be destroyed or its characteristics changed. Our contribution in this project is based on the synthesis of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles with well-defined sizes and shapes and introducing isotopic probe during synthesis of the nanomaterial, preventing the problems of the diffusion of probes. More accurate data can be obtained as the probe are well distributed in nanoparticles so that it is possible to identify regions of low crystallinity (dead layer) which is not possible with diffusion.
