Abstract

This research proposal intends to complement the ongoing post-doctoral project, entitled "About the culture that can be planned: the Unesco, cultural policies and Brazilian social thought", in order to deepen the analysis of the international agency practices, starting from France, in the construction of cultural policies in Brazil between 1966 e 1988. This deepening will be taken in two axes. The fist one is an extensive archive research in the Central Library, Unesco, to collect information both from published public documents and (mostly) from the correspondence exchanged between the Unesco and the consular representation of Brazil in Paris. The second one focuses on a bibliographical research of the French production around cultural policies, aiming on broadening the interconnections between themes and questions considered on the ongoing post-doctoral research. Concerning this last axe, other relations between these production and agency practices of social scientists, in order to investigate the way social sciences are operated in the construction of the idea of cultural policies, will be considered. A widening of the interpretative horizon concerning cultural policies in Brazil will be made possible by taking into consideration the contact with French concepts and models that have had a great importance in the elaboration of actions, plans, proposals and notions created by Unesco.
