Effect of different radiant exposures on physicochemical properties of experimental resin cements containing onium salt

Abstract

The aim of this study will be to evaluate the effect of different radiant exposures on physicochemical properties of experimental resin cements containing different concentrations of diphenyliodonium hexafluorophosphate (DPIHFP) salt. Four experimental resin cements (ERCs) will be prepared using a Bis-GMA/TEGDMA (1:1 molar ratio) base compound and different DPIHFP concentrations of 0, 0.5, 1 or 2 mol%. The light curing of the ERCs will be performed through an IPS E.max Press ceramic block (10 mm in length x10 mm in wide x 3 mm in thickness) by LED source of light using the radiant exposures of 15, 30 and 60 J/CM2. After light curing, specimens will be stored at 37°C for 24h. So, it will be performed the ultimate microtensile strength of the ERCs using hourglass specimens (n=10); degree of conversion and real-time polymerization kinetics will be carried out using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy in disc shape specimens (n=3) of 10 mm in diameter and 0.8 mm of thickness; and also water sorption and solubility test that will be performed using disc shape specimens (n=5) of 5 mm in diameter and 0,5 mm of thickness. The values of each test will be tabulated and submitted to an appropriate statistical test.
