Abstract

In the Ecological Station of Mogi-Guaçú (EEcMG), located in the State of São Paulo, is found a remnant of Riparian Forest that accompanies the Mogi Guaçu river, where there is an accumulation of vegetal material, particularly leaves, that are present in leaf litter and in litters of macroremains deposited on the riverbank. The project has the objective the development of a dichotomous key of the dominant woody species of the Riparian Forest the EEcMG, and the realization of a collection of support for the identification the leaves presents in leaf litter and layers of macroremains. The study of the accumulation of vegetal material, in particular the leaves of angiosperms, is very important to analyze and interpret the fossil plant associations, permitting the reconstitution of the plant communities and the local climate.
