Abstract

Endometriosis is a benign gynecological disease, estrogen-dependent, that affects 10 to 15% of women on reproductive age. The pathogenesis can't be understood by only one theory yet, and there are many hypotheses to explain it. Besides, the presence of endometrial epithelial cells with adhesion characteristics, implantation, growth and angiogenesis in the peritoneal fluid and association between obstructed menstrual flow and endometriosis corroborates to this theory be the most accepted. Recently angiogenesis was considered as an important step in this process. Whereas, such metastatic tumors, endometrial implants depend of neovascularization to establish, implant and invade. This brings us an idea that the development suppression of blood vessels by inhibition of specific angiogenic factors can be a new therapeutic opportunity on endometriosis treatment. We will verify the antiangiogenic effect of two doses of propanolol, antiangiogenic drug, on endometriosis injuries induced in rats. Thereunto, we will study the influence of this drug on differentiation, invasion, proliferation, and apoptosis markers.
