Abstract The goal of the study is to determine the proteinogram from milk, specially the concentrations of acute phase proteins and immunoglobulin G (IgG), from goats with experimental mastitis induced by Staphylococcus aureus, in order to verify the importance of those proteins as early indicators of mammary infection in this species. For the experiment it will be used, 5 goats of the Saanen breed inoculated with S. aureus through the teat canal. The experimental moment immediately before inoculation will be labeled M0 and the following will be identified as M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6 and M7, in which, starting from M0, daily samples of milk will be collected. Milk will be daily tested using the strip cup test and California Matitis Test (CMT). After laboratorial processing for the extraction of whey from milk samples, total protein concentration will be measured, by the biuret technique, using commercial kits. After that, the protein fractioning will be performed using the two-dimensional Sodium Dodecil Sulphate containing poliacilamide electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Data will be evaluated by variance analysis using the Dunnett test (P<0.05). Data from physical exams of the mammary gland and milk secretion will be disposed in descriptive form. | |
