Abstract

Chronic diseases causes substantial impact on public health costs, however physical activity program may be adopted as promising measures, effective and not expensive. In compared to regular physical activity, researches suggests that it has the potential to reduce current of inflammatory biomarkers levels, however, does not exist in literature many information about the impact of inflammatory markers in health care costs. The objective of study is to analyze the impact of inflammatory markers on outpatient costs and identify if there is a relationship with physical activity in different domains. This transversal study will be conducted in Presidente Prudente - SP. The sample will be composed by men and women older than 50 years, registred in basic units Health Presidente Prudente. The participants will be subjected to evaluations that include the following variables: i) practice of physical activity, ii) inflammatory markers, iii) profile glucose and lipid, iv) costs of outpatient treatment, v) overweight and abdominal obesity vi) blood pressure, vii) personal and family history of disease, viii) smoking habit and; ix) economic condition. Statistical analysis: Descriptive statistics will be composed of values mean, standard deviation and 95% confidence interval (95% CI). The Student t test for independent samples will establish comparisons between the groups formed. The meaningful comparisons of Student t test will be re-analyzed by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). In all analyzes, statistical significance (p-value) will be pre-set at below 5%. The software used will be the BioEstat (version 5.0).
