Abstract

The scientific knowledge of Neotropical Grylloidea is poor due the small number of publications, mainly taxonomic and consequently systematic studies. The genus Eidmanacris has 15 species described, distributed in Atlantic forest and Cerrado, and extending towards south and southeast Brazilian regions, reaching Bolivia and Paraguay. Although the number of described species is relativity higher than other Neotropical genera from the same subfamily, these crickets still have new species to be described and nothing is known about the phylogenetic relationships between its species. The aims of this project are to examine the type-material of species of Eidmanacris deposited at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN) in Paris, France; to photograph and draw morphological characters; to analyze morphological characters and include the morphological data in a matrix for the phylogenetic analysis of Eidmanacris.
