Abstract The switched reluctance generator (SRG) has been suggested as an alternative for applications in small and medium power wind generation. This fact is due mainly to their operating characteristics that enable it to operate in a wide speed range, thus allowing better use of wind energy. In this context, the scope of this post doctorate project is the study and development of an axial flux switched reluctance generator applied for wind generation. The electromagnetic design of the SRG will be performed using computational tools such as finite element software that will allow developing a design methodology that is appropriate to the type SRG and to guarantee larger efficiency. The SRG will design to wind generation in a DC-AC microgrid. It is also proposed to study techniques and methods to optimize the SRG performance by determining the optimal parameters of SRG's drive depending on the operating speed. For such purposes will be conducted studies through computer simulations and will be built a low-power prototype of the proposed system. | |
