Effects of different time of preanesthetic food privation on the metabolic, hematologic, clinical and eletrolitic parameters in sheep

Abstract

The aim of this study is to verify the effects of different times of pre-anesthetic fasting in sheep, will be used 10 Santa Inês breeds with an average weight of 40 kg clinically healthy. Blood samples will be collected to determine the blood gas parameters (pH, PaO2, PaCO2, SaO2; tCO2, HCO3, BE), electrolytes (sodium, potassium, ionized calcium, and chloride), blood glucose, plasma cortisol, betahidroxibutirato, serum lactate, blood count (red and white series), renal biochemistry (creatinine and urea), hepatic (aspartate aminotransferase, gamma-glutamyl transferase, bile acids, total protein, albumin, cholesterol and fibrinogen and clinical parameters (clinical parameters heart rate, respiratory rate, rectal temperature, time of reperfusion and oral mucosa staining). The variables are recorded at baseline (T0) prior to the institution of fasting and after 12, 24, 36, and 48 hours.
